75 nm Overnight Sailing Race 2023

Exploration leads to restoration. Connecting deeper with the natural world through water sport and outdoor explorations fuels us to restore what we love, our dear Mama Gaia (mother earth).

“At TWP, we believe that the greatest conservation impact is born from teaching the regenerative mindset and creating socio-environmental change together. The desire to care and restore the health of our water, soil, and air begins with our collective privilege and opportunity to first connect with it, explore it and repsect it. In conservation we emphasize that without connection, there is no protection and without exploration there is no restoration. Seeing tankers, wind patterns, currents of waste, shoreline development etc while sailing is an important visual survey of the health of Lake Ontario.”

Deep thanks to ‘True North’ Captains, Simon Mielniczuk and Jory Gibson for this adventure. Support our advocacy efforts through adventure, Donate Here!

Cold Water Communities

Watch this TWP Short Film: Cold Water Communities

TWP's third Adventure advocacy campaign for the protection of our Great Lakes. This short film highlights those who brave the cold and recreate in this beautiful body of water all year round. In capturing these communities, we aim to mobilize more action, awareness and impact when it comes to changing our waste consumption habits and fostering more local nature connection and exploration. Thank you Tristan Stephen, Founder of Main Floor Media who co-produced this short film alongside TWP.

Here’s how you can help mobilize action and help protect Lake Ontario:

Read: Ending Plastic Pollution, Latest Articles, Environmental Defence

Sign Petition: Canada Must to More to end Plastic Waste by 2030

Read: Protecting the Lake of Shining Waters, Nature Canada

Sign Petition: Add your voice to establish a National Marine Conservation Area in Lake Ontario

Read: Protecting and Restoring the Ecological Health of our Waters, Environmental Defence

Submit a Watermark: Tell your story, register Lake Ontario in an 'important waters' database (please include “written in support of TWP Foundation efforts” at the end of your watermark story)

Read: The Problem with the Line 5 Oil Pipeline, Oil and Water don’t Mix

Sign Petition: Protect the Great Lakes: Shutdown Line 5 Oil Pipeline, Environmental Defence

Petition Excerpt:

Nature Canada: “The Eastern basin of Lake Ontario is rich in wildlife and is a crucial location for over 50 species of birds, reptiles, plants, and fish at risk, like the Blanding’s Turtle, Piping Plover and American Eel. But the area is vulnerable—Lake Ontario is one of the least protected of the Great Lakes. Land development, runoff pollution, invasive species, climate change, and a lack of protection mean that this natural gemand all the wildlife that inhabit it face an uncertain future unless we act now.”

Donate and Support:

To support TWP’s documentation of this campaign, pledge a donation of any amount and/or purchase a poetry book written by fellow cold-dipper and friend of TWP’s, Sean Reece.

Sean Reece has released his poetry book entitled, Open. “It is influenced by non-dual spirituality, Christian mysticism, mythology and the geography of Trinidad & Tobago. It is oriented around the Mandukya Upanishad’s interpretation of the Sanskrit work Om as representing four states of consciousness, and seeks to illuminate a wide variety of life experiences…” Sean is generously donating proceeds to The Downie Wenjack Fund and to our efforts at TWP Foundation.
